Alone Star

It's getting late - Christmas day The sun is trying to hide. There's just us; 2 dogs, the sun, the tree and me. The dogs, bellies full, are sleeping, No doubt dreaming of the next meal. The tree, losing some needles, a few burned out lights, crooked star, looks tired and low. We've ate, thanked God for the gift of grace delivered in Christ among us, basked in the warmth, beauty, and light of a late December sun, a gift all it's own. But now, sitting here alone, I feel like an old weary Christmas tree - Once shinning, giving gifts of life and love; now unnecessary, to be set aside; for there are so many other things that must now be done. - the Dogs will awaken, eat another meal, and move along to other naps. The sun will set, leaving a natural darkness in its wake... The tree shall be taken down, discarded, and forgotten; the star packed away, no longer needed nor looked upon with great wonder of the love it pointed to. Christmas is done. The merriness of the season which bornes love set aside for the so-called "reality" of daily living - And I? I grow a day, a year older... Pondering, where I am bound...
