Here I Am- Here I Go

. Here I am sitting in my little boat all its life it clung to the dock afraid to slip free, afraid to sail away afraid there might be stormy seas out there . Here I am sitting in my tiny little boat bobbing away from the dock the anchorage I have known all my life still afraid there might be high wild seas out there . Here I am the pier receding behind me bearing away from safe harbor here I go sailing off into the unknown . Here I am no longer at anchor no longer ashore accepting at last that life is change. . Here I am sailing alone accepting at last that change always involves loss of some kind or another . Here I am accepting at last that life is change and change is loss and loss always involves death of one kind or another . Here I go sailing away into that setting sun setting fire to the sea setting fire to the horizon and the waves are not as frightening as I thought they would be . Here I go riding the rhythm of that deep sea Here I go sailing away to another shore . . ~~~~~©2020 susan williams
