She danced through gloaming and dawn
She danced when night crawled into hut
She danced when stars left the sky
She danced when hearth lost its fire
She danced when he lay weak to die
She danced when body began to sweat
She danced when she sang a lullaby
She danced when they came to kiss her
She danced looking at the piercing eyes
She danced when she was in pain
She danced getting up at midnight
She danced washing her face with milk
She danced when she could feel the light
She danced holding me tight to her breast
For she was going to take her final rest
