Wish I Were A

Going down hill with arms open Rapidly flying towards the Sun; I wish I were a bird light and small Soar up to sky and enjoy a great fall; Grabbing a frond, swinging up and down Throwing feet up making faces as a clown; I wish I were a monkey smart and agile Could summersault in air with amazing style; Rolling on grass across the lawn Shouting and shaking as a baby-new born; I wish I were a squirrel quick and agile Head and tail up run I with amazing style; Jumping into a stream from its brink Down into the water I begin to sink; I wish I were a fish with no hands and feet Come I up and into air jump in delight; Receding afar light years away Behind the clouds when it is all day; I wish I were a star that twinkle at night At the break of dawn I go out of sight; Sitting in my garden under a tree I often think to make myself free, From the din and bustle of daily affairs; To live and die in peace under Nature’s cares.
