This idea is not fully captured in my translation. **the word used by the poet is "rue". Rue denotes ‘poison ivy', which is specific to Europe. It is not കൊടിത്തൂവ (kodithoova) , but I have chosen to use this word instead of വിഷവള്ളി here to convey the contrast from rose flower effectively. But, I have to admit that the whole meaning of rue is not conveyed. The other meaning of ‘rue' (=regret, remorse, repentance) is also relevant to the context.
