The Last Fruit Gone - 1

A young mango tree
no flowers, no fruits
no bees and birds
she stands deserted
A few months ago, every branch
full of sweet flowers fragrant
swarms of bees and flies
and birds kept her company
When the flowers withered
and the bees were gone
she was full of tiny fruits
sour to the core but growing
Soon children, birds and squirrels
in search of sweet ripe fruit
on every branch and shoot
she gaily shared their happiness
She enjoyed every minute
of bearing the burden of fruit
like a pregnant girl, delivered
happiness to all near and dear.
Now with the last fruit gone
at end, contented she was,
for she spent the whole season
feeding many, making them happy.
Now she felt lonely,
the young mango tree
no flowers, no fruits
no bees and birds,
she stands deserted
the happy season gone,
hoped in vain, for the season
to last round the year.
