I once knew love, I knew its touch Its gentleness and pleasure How soft it felt within my heart A gift to always treasure I once knew love, a wondrous thing A sweet and lovely blessing How great it was to feel that kiss With arms so warm caressing (When love is young and heaven-sent Beset with endless yearning Such feelings so enchant the heart With shameless passion burning) I once knew love, those whispered words Which moved my soul so tender I once knew love, I knew its touch Full drowning in its splendour I once knew love, but now it's passed A memory to ponder A memory that fills my heart With joyfulness and wonder. ©️16/2/2025 Valerie Dohren
