Watch these butterflies on colorful wings Merrily they flit from flower to flower These delicate dancing dervishes, Live joyously in Nature's balmy bower Staying in captivity for days on end Free at last from the binding cyst Leaving behind their shackles and chains Into boundless freedom, soar on wings swift As light and fleet as the passing breeze They fly all through the summer's day Feasting on nectar is all what they do Flowers en mass welcome these companions gay These tiny miracles of grace capture our eyes As they reel on wings colorful as rainbow hues Alas, so fragile in form and structure With the slightest touch, one can their frame bruise While these jolly fellows float up and down Children in ambush wait to trap these flies Remember, in moments of gay abandon, danger lurks Better fly fast, fly far, you lovely butterflies!
