ଆଜି ମକର,
କାଲି କଣ ପଚାରିଲେ
ହେଉଛ ହରବର।
ଆଜି ମକର,
କାଲି ହେବ ଯାହା
ବୁଝି ବିଚାରି କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କର।
ଆଜି ମକର,
କାଲି ହୋଇଥିଲା ଯାହା
ଦେଣନେଣ ନାହିଁ ଆଉ ତୁମର।
English rendering;
Today, it is Makara Sankranti
And you are confused
When you are asked
What is tomorrow.
Today, it is Makara Sankranti,
And do with proper understanding
What will be tomorrow.
Today, it is Makara Sankranti,
What was yesterday,
You have no business for that.
Makaras Sankranti means The first day of the Odia month Makara(Capricorn) , and on this day the sun started going towards north pole. from this day the winter to going out and spring is coming in.
