Baby Boy Crying

I once heard a baby boy crying Out in the cold, cold snow, And anxious was I to comfort him For my heart pitied him so. He lay in the arms of his mother A princess from long ago. And as I wandered on all alone I felt the teardrops flow. Returning once more at noonday When the sun had melted the snow The baby was smiling sweetly With his pretty face all aglow. I greeted his mother warmly. She was kind as a mother could be And when she took me by the hand I was filled with humility. We stood and we talked together, She welcomed me home, just we three. The gentle mother of a wondrous child Was casting a spell over me.
