My Sadness

Someone told me I must give up my sadness And look for more blue in my skies; Give up my sadness - that's just sheer madness! How about if we compromise Sadness can stay and occupy my heart Only on days ending with 'y'; But give up my sadness - replace it with gladness? I can't think of a reason why Sadness and I've been together so long, We should have just taken our vows; Give up my sadness - that's just sheer madness! Truth is, I wouldn't even know how Sadness and me, well, we're like conjoined twins, Where one goes, so goes the other; Give up my sadness? Don't speak of such madness! By the way, loneliness is our brother I've been told not to let sadness speak, It's always wrong, and has no right; Don't be absurd - sadness must be heard! Sometimes, we talk long into the night No one can break apart this family, All we have are each other; Me, loneliness, and sadness - what a team, Wait! Here comes hopelessness - our long lost mother!
