It happened in late March,1978
at Western Springs an outdoor arena
just down the hill from Grey Lynn
when folk rock was in.
Dylan and The Band opened the gig
with 'Blowin' In The Wind', acoustic.
The song asked the question, 'How many roads/
must a man walk down? ' The answer is unknown.
An electric song spoke to those
who needed a place to call home.
It was 'Shelter from The Storm',
a romantic ballad in rhymed couplets form.
Western Springs has had numerous concerts since,
'but none as good as Dylan's, ' I thought revisiting
when there were leaves rustling like then and oh,
and was it really so long ago?
