From My Window.

It suits me down to the ground,
on the second floor of the motel
with a view through a window of opportunity,
down Great North Road to Lynmall
this stormy Sunday in mid-winter,
when people need their umbrellas, hurrying
to the bus stop or the railway station,
going mostly downhill to the destination.
I see a few firs, elms, a lone palm tree,
which frame the motel with green and amber.
A new apartment block on the skyline
is charcoal and amber, with white columns.
That complex is an aesthetic delight,
rising between trees...but above all that.
