Cookie Policy

Which cookies we use and how you can manage them.

Last updated: 03.08.2026

Cookies are small pieces of data your browser keeps on your device while you visit a site. This policy sets out which cookies Versoem uses and how you can manage them.

The cookie groups we use

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off. They let you sign in, submit forms and have us remember your privacy choices. You can set your browser to block them, but then parts of the site will not work.

What this affects: Session and sign-in, Cookie preferences, CSRF protection, Spam protection (reCAPTCHA) · cannot be switched off

Performance cookies

They help us understand which pages are read and how visitors move through the site. The data is aggregated and never tied to your identity. Without your consent we collect none of the measurements we use to improve reading counts.

What this affects: Reading statistics, Poem read counters, Google Analytics

Functional cookies

They let us remember preferences such as reading mode, typeface and line spacing. Without consent these settings reset on every visit.

What this affects: Reading mode preferences, Interface choices, Card template preferences

Targeting cookies

They are used to show content matching your interests in our ad slots. Without consent ads still appear, but they are not personalised.

What this affects: Ad slots

Social media cookies

They are set by the embedded tools that let you share poems on social networks. Without consent those tools may not work.

What this affects: X (Twitter), Facebook, WhatsApp

Visit measurement (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how the site is browsed. This tool places a cookie in your browser and processes technical data such as your IP address, the pages you visit and your device details on Google's servers.

This measurement belongs to the performance group and is entirely up to you: if you do not consent, the measurement script is never loaded on the page, meaning not a single request reaches Google. If you withdraw your consent later, loading stops at the next page transition. The measurement is not matched to your identity; it is used to understand how much each poem is read.

Spam protection (reCAPTCHA)

We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to protect the contact form against automated submissions. This version shows you no puzzle; it scores in the background how closely the submission matches human behaviour. In doing so, Google may set a cookie in your browser and processes technical data such as your IP address and your interactions on the page on its own servers.

This protection belongs to the necessary group and cannot be switched off: without it the form is left open to spam, so it is required for the site to work. It loads only on pages that contain the form; it does not engage while you browse the archive. For details, see Google’s privacy policy and terms of service.

How to change your choice

Choose in the banner shown on your first visit, and change your mind later from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Your choice is kept for a year; every group except the necessary one can be switched off.

You can also block or clear cookies from your browser settings. Block the necessary ones and things like signing in and submitting forms will stop working.

How long they are kept

  • Session cookies: deleted when you close the browser.
  • Cookie choice: one year.
  • Reading and interface preferences: one year at most.

For details of the personal data processed through cookies, see the Cookie Privacy Notice page.

We use cookies to give you a better reading experience. Your personal data is processed under data protection law, and you can change which cookies you allow at any time.
